A ROBOT IN YOUR OWN IMAGE

By JAMES TENAFLY

Guess which island nation is making custom robot doppelgangers for a few lucky billionaires? Here’s a hint: it’s the Japanese, doy. The robotics firm Kokoro, a Sanrio subsidiary, will build just 2 robot twins, each costing 20.1 million yen or $223,000 in real money. As with everything in Japan, interested buyers will find them on sale at Seibu, Sogo, and Robinson’s department stores. That’s not a joke: they sell everything from low to high end in department stores over there. If you’d like to own a robot with your face, eyes, body, facial expressions, hair, upper body movements and even eyelashes head to Tokyo before January 3rd.
