CCTV HEROS

By IAN WINTHROP

Folks in the UK may be excited to learn about the awesome new video game being released by game developer Internet Eyes. In the game you play a person sitting at a computer, asked to watch video feed from four different CCTV cameras around Britain. If you witness a crime on one of the cameras, you then alert authorities and fill out some lengthy paperwork, appear in court as a witness, and collect roughly $2,000 in prize money. And the best part? All of this happens in real life! That’s right, YOU really are the crack security expert, sitting around on your laptop catching bad guys. It’s not a game at all, but it’s so darn fun! Critics say this is a horrible idea that promotes vigilantism and corruption, but don’t those two cancel each other out? How about letting the people have their fun, critics!
