A cop in Dayton, Ohio, has been caught on video admitting that he pulled over a black man because he made "direct eye contact" with the officer.

The driver, John Felton, was on his way to his mother's house when he noticed a cop following him. As a precaution, Felton took out his phone and began recording while the officer pulled him over.

"My brother had his seat belt on and everything and I was like, 'This cop is following me, I don't know why he's following me," Felton said in an interview with ABC on Thursday.

In the cell phone recording, the police officer can be heard telling Felton that he pulled him over for failing to flip on his turn signal 100 feet before the turn. To be clear: Felton did signal for the turn, just not early enough. He thought there might be more to it than that, so Felton continued to press the cop on why he was stopped.

"You made direct eye contact with me and held onto it when I was passing you," the officer says. Felton claims he didn't even see the police officer.

"I'm not going to argue with you, sir," the cop responds. "I'll just scan your license and give you a citation for the violation and we can take it to court."

The Dayton police responded to the story on Twitter, saying that they are aware of the video and reviewing it.
