This is How Mexico City Celebrated 3-1 Against Croatia

Partying through earthquakes at the Angel of Independence.

The World Cup has long since gathered up its balls and gone home, but for many the buzz of hard fought victories still lingers. Australian photographer, Jared O'Sullivan, was in Mexico City on the day El Tricolor dispatched a disappointing Croatia side to book a trip to the second round.

"After the match people from all around the city came to the Angel of Independance, a monument which is the epicentre of celebrations and protests in the city" said Jared of the images you're about to see. "People from all ages came together to sing and dance around the angel. Police protected the monument but allowed the party to go on. Vendors, sold food and cigarettes, photographers sold polaroids in front of the chaos and at one point there was a small earthquake where the ground shook but everyone was too busy celebrating to notice."

Mexico, who also contributed Most Viral Animated Gif of the World Cup, would go on to lose 2-1 to the Netherlands in the round of 16.
