Are you over 18?

The stuff you're trying to look at is considered "naughty" by busybodies, legal types, and (probably) your mom, so we'd like to make sure you're of legal age before we let you see it.

Dress Your Tits Up Like Little Fancymen

By Harry Cheadle

They say there are no original ideas left in the world, but that’s a total crock of shit. If you have any doubt that you can still achieve originality, even transcendence, visit Tit Thinks It’s People, a blog devoted to images of breasts made to look like faces. The official name for these tit-people is “buppet” (breast + puppet), and the world has a Montreal woman named Heidi Leigh to thank for their existence. We love boobs and we love puppets, so as soon as this site was brought to our attention we called Heidi up and asked her about her breasts.

VICE: OK, I have to ask how this started. Were you just looking at your breasts one day and thought, “This looks like a person?”
Heidi Leigh: I have a group of girlfriends I have been exchanging photos with—usually really bad camera phone photos—in an attempt to try and shock the other person. It became something where we would send each other photos of our breasts in odd positions. I have a little dog that wears outfits often, so she has a little sombrero, and it grew from there. The majority of the photos are me, but they aren’t all me.

Were you just like, “I have a sombrero, I have a breast, let’s combine the two”?
I was. That’s where Senor Boobito came from.

You now have a system where people can submit their own buppets. How did that happen?
Sir Boobsalot, Ariel, and the one with the big long mustache were sent to me by my friends. At the time those were sent I had six or seven of them and thought, “OK, I’m going to make a blog for those friends and myself so I can post them and share them.” Within the first day the site had almost 1,000 clicks. So from there I was like, “OK, I guess I have to do something about this, because there are people in Australia looking at this blog.” That’s when I came up with the idea to let people submit their own.

The latest buppet is actually a male breast.
Yes, that’s my husband.

So you’re open to both male and female buppets?
Oh, absolutely. And I’m trying to keep it as nonsexual as possible.

Yeah, the site is full of pictures of women’s breasts, but it’s really not arousing. I don’t look at them and have a bunch of sexual thoughts about breasts. Do you think drawing a mustache on a breast de-sexualizes it?
I think on most of them you see the silly face before the breasts. Cropping them a certain way helps as well. If you take out a part of the torso and the other breast, that helps too.

And you want to keep it non-sexual, clearly.
Absolutely. It’s funny though, it’s on Blogspot, and Google won’t put ads on it because they consider it “adult” material. It’s interesting to me how people react to it—some say, “Wow, that’s really not suitable for work, you shouldn’t have sent it to me.” But it’s something I would send to my mother. It’s not something I personally find offensive.

I guess people have a problem with breasts for some reason.
It’s funny, I’ve been trying to thinking of ways to de-sexualize it even more. Having male breasts is one way. I’ve also thought about tying it into breast cancer awareness, like if it ever did potentially make money, a portion of it could go to breast cancer research, where it’s more about celebrating breasts than pushing the photos into the adult category.

Breasts should be celebrated.
Absolutely. The buppets should, too.

Do you have any plans to branch out and make other body parts into puppets?
My husband said that yesterday. He was like, “You should turn other things into people.” I don’t know, before I did that I would probably branch out into different media, like maybe videos of puppet shows with buppets.

That would be fun to see.
Something with stop motion, maybe. That is probably where I would go first. I just really like the name Tit Thinks It’s People. It makes me really happy.
