Hey Ron!

Hey Ron! - Eli Manning Is My Homeboy

I used to think Eli was a second rate quarterback. But I've learned to accept his flaws and now I'm in a "bromance" with the guy. I'll be wearing his jersey on Super Bowl Sunday.

So I had a column a few months back where I acknowledged that Eli Manning was talented in some regard, but I just didn't like him as a player. I’ve always been a Giants fan, but I thought the guy was just a horrible player that sucked and was afraid to run the ball. I thought he was a second rate quarterback. But I have to change my position on that. I've learned to accept his flaws and appreciate what he is good at. And he is very good. I know what you’re thinking. But no, this isn’t just a little fling because he is winning. This is a romance—a “bromance,” if you will.

Why have I changed my mind? Maybe it’s because he read my column. He must have, because after it ran the Giants went on to beat the Jets and have been winning ever since. In the last five games Eli’s been scoring big on 3rd and long and 3rd and short. They are going to take the Super Bowl.

But don’t get me wrong, the brother still has no coordination. He can’t run left or right to save his life. That’s why think he should go on “Dancing with the Stars” during the off season to work on his moves.

What he does have is accuracy—he can throw a ball like his life depends on it and that is working for him right now. He’s also very good at defense. So come this Super Bowl, I am sure that the Giants are going to win it because it will come down to the those 3rd down situations where he shines.

So, there it is. Eli did it. He has proved me wrong. And I never admit to being wrong, but in this case I have to give credit where credit is due. I mean, he threw for 300 yards in the last game. The man is playing the way an MVP or a Hall of Famer should play.

People might wonder if I am finally admitting that Eli is good because I’ve gotten so much shit  from friends about not showing him love or if I came to this conclusion on my own accord. Actually, it is a little of both. People email me statistics all day long about how great he is, what number he is ranked, and all of that. But at the end of the day, what’s real is real and right now he’s the man. I would even let him marry my daughter. But honestly, I probably would have let him marry her back when I thought he was terrible just because his pockets are fat. That boy has money, even if he is pretty goofy. But goofy people make all the cash—look at Bill gates.

Overall, I’m behind the guy. I even bought an Eli jersey to wear on Super Bowl Sunday, which is something I never thought I would do. This year we are bringing a trophy back from Indianapolis. Let's go Giants!
