Seattle police said nine people were arrested during clashes with anti-capitalist protesters on Sunday evening. Five police officers were injured as rocks, bricks, and Molotov cocktails were thrown. Teacher Strike Shuts Down Detroit Schools
More than 40 schools in Detroit will be closed today after the union representing 2,600 teachers in the city called for a "sick-out" over pay. Russian officials said negotiations are taking place to include the city of Aleppo in a nationwide ceasefire across Syria. US Secretary of State John Kerry is in Geneva and is due to hold urgent talks with the UN envoy to Syria to help establish a cessation in the fighting in Aleppo. All ceasefires negotiated between Russia, the US, and other powers exclude designated terrorist groups such as ISIS and al Qaeda. —Reuters

Iraqi PM Wants Green Zone Occupiers Arrested
Prime Minister Haider al Abadi has called for the arrest of protestors who occupied Iraq's government district for 24 hours. The Shia activists left the Green Zone on Sunday, the same day suicide car-bomb attacks in southern Iraq killed at least 32 people. The attacks were claimed by the Islamic State, a Sunni Muslim group. —Al Jazeera

Puerto Rico to Default on Debts
Puerto Rico will fail to pay its creditors $370 million due today after crisis talks ended without a deal. Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla said it was a "painful decision," but the government of the US territory could not pay the bonds without cutting essential services. —Bloomberg
