Kim Guthrie Shoots People in Malls

It's part of the Australian way of life.

I feel Australians are exotic to the rest of the world and thus interesting, so I've made it my purpose to document our everyday life. These photos are a selection of people I’ve encountered in malls; those who have had the particular “magic” to attract my attention. Sometimes I get a feeling from a person when I see them that makes me approach and photograph them. It’s the reality of my experience, my vanishing act; the subjects are all looking at me, but I’m not there.

Kim takes photos of Australians outside malls, too. Check out more of his work here, and here and here.
