Check Out Bacardí's New Graphic Novel

Legendary Warren Ellis and Michael Allred tell the story of the rum's origins in Cuba.

BACARDÍ rum has been kicking around for more than a century and a half, during which time its founders – the Bacardí family in Cuba – have faced earthquakes, a fire that destroyed their distillery, a revolution, prohibition and exile.

Some of these stories have been documented in a new graphic novel, The Spirit of BACARDÍ, created by the legendary writer Warren Ellis and artist Michael Allred.

The novel focuses on Emilio Bacardí – son of founder Don Facundo Bacardí Massó and his work for Cuban independence in the late 1800s. Emilio Bacardí was repeatedly imprisoned and exiled for his belief in an independent Cuba, but eventually became the first freely-elected Mayor of Santiago de Cuba.
