Dario Argento's villa of evil

Hello fright fans! This is me in the San Lorenzo area of Rome, on the way to meet one of the "Masters of Horror," Dario Argento.

I was there to film an interview with Dario at his Profondo Rosso Museum of Horror on Via Dei Gracchi which will soon be appearing on VBS!

Here's a glimpse inside The Horror Museum. In this diorama we see Darth Vader and a werewolf conversing with Freddie Kreuger. They seem to be telling guests to the museum to look through the red curtain. Inside is a scene from Argento's 1987 film Opera. The film was a critical and commercial flop but it's since been reappraised as a lost masterpiece. It has a bit where a killer tapes needles underneath a woman's eyes so if she blinks she's blinded. Then she has to watch her lover get hacked to death with a giant dagger. In his early films, Argento always played the part of the murderer himself.

Here's a cool painting of Dario. He appears to be bathing in an ocean of blood. See those clouds? They also appear to be filled with blood.

A prop from Demoni, a film he wrote for Mario Bava's son Lamberto. It appears this woman has been attacked by a Demon, or maybe she is a demon herself.

Another painting from the museum. This time of some dogs hanging out in space.

Here we have something that looks like it was inspired by somebody who takes drugs a lot. There's a completely unsubstantiated rumour that Dario Argento did tons of drugs in his day but that's something we do not subscribe to.

Hubble, bubble, toil, and Giallo! Here is, cooking up a plot to a totally scary film, probably!!

Back to the movies! This set is dedicated to one of Jennifer Connolly's first movies, and also starring Donald Pleasance, Phenomena!

There were paintings like this all over the museum. As you can see, this is a lady showering in an underwater chamber. Sunlight is piercing through the skylights and illuminating her buttocks.

This is the chair that Dario sat in while we conducted the interview. Stay tuned to VBS.TV for more horror, fans! And don't worry, that sound outside you just heard wasn't one of the living dead attempting to break into your bedroom and feast on your brains… probably!!!
