With all the coverage of Farrah Fawcett's untimely passing, you might not have heard that Michael Jackson also died last Thursday. The handful of fans that heard the news gathered in London's Trafalgar Square on Friday to mourn the passing of their idol. I joined them and took pictures so you could see what I saw.

As always with this kind of thing, there were more people taking pictures/filming than actually participating.

The newsreader on the left was a COMPLETE cunt. Right before this picture was taken, she grabbed a woman who was crying and laying down flowers and said, "Hey, you're gonna need to wait a few minutes before you do that, you're blocking my shot."

The shrine that had been set up consisted of nothing but a candle, a copy of the Evening Standard, one photo of MJ, and what appears to be a marker drawing of Benicio Del Toro as Che Guevara.

This was the highlight of my day. These two guys got into a fight ...

... and this woman leapt in screaming, "This isn't about you! It's about Michael Jackson!"

And it fucking worked!

The fan on the left went as far as to get facial surgery in honour of her hero.

These guys seemed to think if they looked excited enough they might be able to get on Channel U.

The Trafalgar Square street artists were quick to cash in.

As was HMV.

One thing I noticed throughout the day is that it's almost impossible to draw a picture of Michael Jackson without it being offensive.

Or crappy.

Or racist.

After a couple of hours, the gathering sort of fell apart. This fat, homeless guy and the Eurotrash MJ in the background started to have a dance-off, which held everyone's attention for about 40 (embarrassing) minutes, but then people just started to wander off. Bored and depressed at the lameness of the memorial, I figured I go eat and then head home.

After eating, I decided to take a peak into Trafalgar Square to see if anything new was happening. And there was about 10 times the amount of people there!

And homemade signs!

And singalongs!

And the defacing of 200-year-old landmarks!

And candle-lit vigils!

And a bigger, better shrine!

And more possibly racist drawings of the great man (why is his nose almost as wide as his face?).

Even Ugly Betty and her gay friend were there to pay their respects! RIP Mike!!
