New York - Black Sabbath Video Collage
For the past three Halloweens, Luke Crotty and Christy Karacas from Cheeseburger have been putting together an exquisite corpse video with all their artist buds for each Black Sabbath album (they both also do video stuff--Christy made this little gem and did all the animation for the Guide to Travel DVD). They take the record, chop it up into little 30 second clips, draw their friends' names out of a hat to assign them each a part, then wait for them to send back 30 seconds of video magic and stitch everything together into one seamless holiday loop to play at parties. They've been doing them in order, so last year's was Paranoid and this year's is Master of Reality (before they got locked into Sabbath, Luke put together two others using War of the World and some Disney haunted house album he found, though now they're booked for at least the next five years). The finished product is being screened tonight only along with a couple past selections at Monkey Town in Brooklyn for free, so please feel free to drop by and also feel free to be stoned out of your mind when doing so.
