By going straight for mainstream media gold, the researchers behind this “discovery” managed to avoid the lengthy peer review process that would have exposed them as frauds. See, Ida, as the fossil was nicknamed, is not at all where we people came from. While the Norwegian paleontologist that originally found Darwinius claimed it was a primate, an independent team from the University of Texas at Austin has released a paper (through the Journal of Human Evolution, thank you very much) that describes it as a relative of the stinking, stupid lemur. Whoopth! I guess that’s what you get for monkeying around with serious science!
