JIM HITS
There are many examples you can give of this anthropological diversity. Food culture is a big one, as is a country’s general outlook, or “weltanschauung” as our German buddies would say. Some countries are more passionate and aggressive, others more reserved. Some peoples are more welcoming than others. Not to say that everyone hasn’t been more than accommodating so far, it’s just that in Belgium they really take it one step further.
I just happened to turn on the TV in my hotel room and found that the Belgian people were so happy to receive me these three days that they designated a TV channel for me. Simply called “Jim,” its catchphrase is “Jim Hits” (this is no exaggeration on their part). It plays MY music videos (above you will see a grab of the Armand Van Heldon video we made last summer) and the rest of the programs are about Playboy bunnies and cult 80s films. I think next there’s a documentary about cats presented by Slayer and Daisy Lowe.
Thanks Belgium. Perhaps you’re not as bad as everyone makes out (although we did miss Voivod last night cos the gig was too far out of town. It was just bad organization, which I hate).
