LIBERIA'S FUTURE
You know what this kinda reminds us of? The time Reagan supported Samuel Doe in his ascent to Liberian rule. Wait, no, that’s wrong. It’s more like when the CIA (allegedly but probably) released Charles Taylor from prison so he could return to Liberia and overthrow Doe, after he’d become an embarrassment for the US. See a pattern here? Liberia started as America’s sole foray into African colonialism and, while the methods may have changed, the country seems to remain entirely controlled by American interest.
Despite Hillary’s endorsement, Liberia’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommends banning Johnson-Sirleaf from holding public office in Liberia. See, the LTRC claims Johnson-Sirleaf and 50 other officials fanned the flames of civil war several years back, making them unfit to lead the war torn country. Now’s the part where you wonder whether the LTRC, or the Liberian people for that matter, have any control over their country’s future. We’ll give you a hint: Iraq, Chad, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Algeria, the list goes on and on. As long as America remains invested in Liberia, the Liberian people will never choose their leaders. Liberia’s future is in the hands of America’s leaders, who are a big bunch of lying psychos.
