Chris Roach holds down his hometown of Grass Valley, CA like no other. All the skaters from Grass Valley who got into snowboarding styled their “method airs” after their love for their hometown and affectionately dubbed their take on the trick “The Grasser.” Here is what Noah Salasnek had to say: “Best mimicked style since day one. Kidwell and Palmer’s backside airs were the best but Chris’ may have been better.” Chris Roach is a no bullshit kind of guy. That’s why it seems only half as shocking as it might when he admits feeling like he’s been paid more to party than to snowboard. That said, Roach’s talents should not be underestimated. With an incomparable style, Chris is as talented on both a skateboard and motorcycle as he is on a snowboard. In this episode of Powder & Rails, VBS roams Roach’s backyard motocross track to talk about the role skating played in his early snowboarding career and to get the definitive story behind his lifetime ban from both Japan and the World Cup Tour.
