Beck Just Dropped a New Song Called 'Dreams'

His new single trades the somber acoustic songs of 'Morning Phase' for the sheen and digital kick-snare of radio-friendly dance-pop.

Beck's last album, 2014's Grammy-winning Morning Phase, was a pretty mellow bunch of songs, more in line with his 2002 record Sea Change than his string of more recent, and more mediocre, albums. Beck's not one to cling tightly to a genre for very long, though, and his new single, "Dreams," from his as-yet-untitled upcoming album has traded the somber acoustic songs for the sheen and digital kick-snare of radio-friendly dance-pop. The production is slick and the hooks are solid and there's even some guitar that wouldn't sound out of place on what is arguably Beck's best album, Midnite Vultures. Give it a listen.
