Summer in New York City is chock full of skateboarding- and tune-related events. Some of them are good, some of them blow, some are free, and some cost somewhere in the ballpark of one crapton. The overlap rate of the "good" and "free" events is miniscule. Maybe one, two per summer? This weekend New York's Summer Good Times Venn diagram has something falling solidly in the "intersection" category. Converse's City Carnage: NYC is a two-day event featuring skating and music, and the whole thing is for freesies. It starts tomorrow with a skate session at the Pier 62 park with the entire Converse team. (That's people like Kenny Anderson, Nick Trepasso, Rune Gliffberg, Sammy Baca, and all these other gentlemen.) Then, on Saturday, Sleigh Bells will headline a free concert with JEL and Mr. Dream in that field right next to the park. If you can't make it to the show, don't fret, there will be a live stream (shot partially by fans) starting on Saturday at 9 PM right here.
