A piece of what appears to be an airplane wing washed ashore Réunion island in the Indian Ocean on Wednesday, leading to speculation that it may be wreckage from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

MH370 disappeared off the coast of Malaysia in March 2014 after taking off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing. The exhaustive hunt for the plane turned up nothing, but this new debris could be the first definitive clue towards MH370's fate—or it could just be some random junk from a different crash.

"It is way too soon to say whether or not it is MH370. We just found the debris this morning," said the French Air Force's Adjutant Christian Retournat, according to CNN.

Nevertheless, an aviation expert told the Telegraph on Wednesday that the debris, which appears to be a wing flap, looks to be "that of a Boeing 777—the same plane as MH370."

A "definitive answer" about the debris' origins is expected in the next few days, although seeing how the MH370 story shares so many similarities with the plot of LOST, it's possible that the new debris is part of a conspiracy to cover-up the fact that the plane crashed on a mystical island.
