Dethlehem's Bloody New Video Is Equal Parts Gwar and D&D

Pour yourself a chalice of Mountain Dew Code Red, pop some pizza rolls into the oven, and LARP the night away.

When I was in middle school, I was hooked on the RPG game Runescape. Dressed in barracks armor, I made a shitload of gold, fished for lobsters, and slaughtered other 11-year-olds in forests. I hung up my virtual chestplate around the time that I realized that there were living, breathing girls I could talk to out there, and that lobsters are actually caught with traps, not fished. The guys in Dethlehem probably played Runescape, too. But instead of growing out of the phase, they have taken it to a whole new level—forming a melodic death metal band that plays RPG music while wearing chainmaille.

The band's new video for their song "Mystic Island" is off their excellent new record, Destroyers of the Realm. It was produced by Jens Bogren, who has worked with legends like Opeth, Amon Amarth, and everyone's favorite—Dragonforce.

Pour yourself a chalice of Mountain Dew Code Red, pop some pizza rolls into the oven, and LARP the night away with the sweet sounds of Dethlehem playing in the background. They make me wish I never retired that sick barracks armor.
