Trump Really Doesn't Want a Moderator at the Upcoming Debate

After already throwing a tantrum over the proposed presidential debate schedule because it overlaps with a few NFL football games, Donald Trump is now proposing we just ditch the whole concept of moderators altogether because the "system is being gamed."

"I think, maybe, we should have no moderator," Trump said during an interview with CNBC Monday about the upcoming presidential debates. "Let Hillary and I sit there and just debate because I think the system is being rigged so it's going to be a very unfair debate."

After MSNBC's Commander-in-Chief forum last week, host Matt Lauer received criticism that he had been too tough on Hillary Clinton and had taken it a little easy on Trump, but Trump saw the thing a bit differently.

"I thought [Matt Lauer] was very professional, I have to be honest. I think he's been treated very unfairly, but they all said that I won," Trump said on Squawk Box. "Well now the new person's going to try to be really hard on Trump just to show, you know, the establishment what he can do. So I think it's very unfair what they're doing. So I think we should have a debate with no moderators—just Hillary and I sitting there talking."

The first televised debate is scheduled for September 26 and will be moderated by NBC's Lester Holt, no matter how loudly Trump talks about duking it out with Clinton on the debate stage alone. Besides, after seeing the two go to blows on Twitter for the past year, it's clear the two can't be in the same room without a referee.
