Donald Trump Just Asked Russia to Help Him Beat Hillary Clinton

In an apparent attempt to remind everyone once again about Hillary Clinton's missing emails, Donald Trump stepped in a big ole pile of cyber doo doo on Wednesday during a press conference in Florida when he asked Russia if it could help find them.

"Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing," Trump said with reporters present. "I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press."

The gaffe came after he was asked about the DNC hack, which intelligence agents are now tying to Russia. The hack collected embarrassing emails from Democratic leaders who seemed to favor Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders and prompted the resignation of Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. If Russia unearthed those emails, Trump figures, the country must be able to find Clinton's too.

Clinton's chief foreign policy adviser, Jake Sullivan, condemned the comments as a blatant act of aggression. "This has to be the first time that a major presidential candidate has actively encouraged a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent," he told the New YorkTimes. "This has gone from being a matter of curiosity, and a matter of politics, to being a national security issue."

Trump's remarks came shortly after saying he wouldn't "tell Putin what to do" in response to the DNC hack. He also claimed he had "nothing to do with Putin" and has never spoken to him, although he's bragged about meeting him in the past.

Trump quickly tried to clean the mess up by tweeting that if Russia or "any other country or person" have Clinton's emails, they should go to the FBI.
