“I don’t know what all the fuss is about,” says Cleveland artist Anthony F Yankovic III, “I couldn’t imagine anything being easier. You just draw pictures, lay them out and people pay you.” Yankovic graduated from art school only a year ago and now has more jobs and art shows than he would ever want to go to. “I don’t want to sound like an asshole but I don’t get the whole starving artist thing. I suspect people aren’t even trying to show their stuff or get design jobs. They’re just picking their asses.” Unlike most art students that get a job at an art supplies store and paint in their basement awaiting the time they’re finally good enough, Anthony went at it full Ramones-style and was rewarded with about $80 000 a year in bullshit, easy- peasy jobs.
“Once you get an OK grasp of web design and graphic design, illustration and the rest are just about a tiny bit of talent. The rest is a minor hustle and not getting too wasted the night before.”
