See Real Street Art Tonight at the Opening Reception of "Rusk"

If you forked up the 15 bucks to go see Exit Through the Gift Shop, now’s your chance to make amends for supporting that total bastardization of street art. Tonight, August 10th, Trumbull Studio Gallery is hosting the opening of Rusk, a zine release/art installation that celebrates the graffiti artist, who goes by the same name. The exhibition features photos taken by Julian Gilbert on illicit nights out with New York City’s most mysterious miscreant. The exhibition aims to reveal the dirty, moonlit, paint-fumed beauty of this kind of art—the kind that isn’t getting reproduced and sold in every souvenir shop in Chinatown. As an added just-to-make-you-feel-like-you’re-there bonus, the installation will also include street signs, broken glass, trash, and other detritus central to the experience of graffiti writing. You can check it out until August 24th but if you want to get your greedy hands on one of the limited edition zines or t-shirts we suggest you head down there ASAP.
Rusk Opening Reception will be held on August 10th, 7 to 11 PM
Trumbull Studios, 143 Roebling, 3rd floor, Brooklyn
Exhibit runs until August 24th.
