Earlier this evening, Fox News announced the line-up for Thursday night's Republican presidential debate, which the network will host in the beautiful metropolis of Cleveland, Ohio. The line-up, which includes the 10 most popular 2016 candidates as determined by five different national polls, is as follows:

The selection means that seven Republican candidates—Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, George Pataki, and Jim Gilmore—will be left out of the party's first presidential debate. The decision to exclude nearly half of the GOP field has been fraught with controversy, but also understandable, because having 17 politicians trying to talk on one stage would be madness. As a consolation, Fox News will host a second, consolation debate at 5 pm tomorrow.
