I Finally Got an iPhone

I finally got an iPhone a few weeks ago. I think what sealed the deal was when I was out skating with some old bros and one of my unemployed/unemployable friends pulled his iPhone out of his pocket to Instagram some nonsense.

I finally got an iPhone a few weeks ago. Fairly positive I'm the last of my friends to get one. I think what sealed the deal was when I was out skating with some old bros and one of my unemployed/unemployable friends pulled his iPhone out of his pocket to Instagram some nonsense.

I wasn't holding out because I dislike technology. I think I was just being stubborn because I hate seeing people walking around staring at their phones all the time. My old phone just made calls, so there wasn't really any reason to fondle it in public. But I was kind of envious watching my friends take rad photos with their phones and them immediately blast them onto the internet's face. In my line of work (freelance bullshit artist) that kind of thing could come in handy. Here are my ten favorite photos I've taken with my iPhone since I bought it.

1.) Smile Forever Tattoo at No-Comply Skateshop

The day after I bought my iPhone I was at my local skateshop and there was a kid in there with a Smile Forever tattoo. Normally I would have asked him if he could shoot a photo of it and email it to me for my collection, but instead I just pulled out my telephone and took the picture myself. I forgot to ask the kid what his name was, so let's just say his name was Colin. I've always liked that name. Thanks, Colin!

2.) Tim Kerr Hand-Painted Skate Decks

I participated in a little group art show a few weekends ago at Apparition skateshop in Austin. Tim Kerr was one of the other dudes in the show and he had these board on display. I don't have many heroes/role models, but Tim is on the short list. I can't say enough good things about the guy. Constant inspiration/motivation.

3.) Tim Kerr's Studio

I went to Tim's house the day after the art show to drop some stuff off/pick some stuff up. I took this photo using this hip new Application called Instagram. It's super new so don't feel bad if you haven't heard about it. Follow me

@sieben_up Up next… Twitter craze. It's like the new Pokemon. But more boring.

4.) I H8 Roger Sticker

It just seemed kind of stupid not to include this blatant plug for my skateboard company. We seriously need all the (free) help we can get. We're like an American car company: people like the idea of supporting us, but when it comes time to buy… Honda.

5.) River Sieben Going Down the Slide

How am I not going to include a photo of my kid in my top ten list?

6. River Sieben Climbing up the Stairs to the Slide

How am I not going to include two photos of my kid in my top ten list? Before I had a kid I couldn't understand why parents were always so anxious to show people photos of their kids. But now I get it. Because once you have a kid this weird switch flips in your brain and you don't give a shit what other people think when you're talking to them about your children. You just look right past their blank stares and interpret politeness for interest. But for real, I get it. Most kids are gross and stupid. Mine rules though.

7.) SPOCK! King of Feline Aviation…

Remember Limpies? You do? Well then, you're old. Stop doing coke at the bar. You're creeping the kids out.

8. Cookie Monster 11 PM Friday Night

Sometimes my old buddies who haven't settled down yet will say stuff like, "Dude, how come we never see you out anymore?" And I'm like, "Dude, look at this picture. Freaking 11 PM on Friday Night and Cookie Monster is blazing smokey burnouts all over my living room. Shit's still crazy in my world, homeboy." Nah, I'm just kidding. None of my old friends ask me why I'm not at the bar. They're just stoked I'm not trying to bum a ride home to South South Austin at 2 AM.

9.) Best Mountain

Personally I'm partial to Okay Mountain, but whatevs.

10.) Paris boobies Apron

This would never fly in the USA. Probably because we're afraid of boobies and in love with automatic weapons and Scarface posters. We sure seem stupid when you take a few steps back.
