Hey, not to keep making this all about ME, but a pleasant-voiced lady from Swedish National Radio's Korrerapporten show just called to talk to me about Garbage Island since all the radioactive debris washed out by the Japanese tsunami should be adding to it sometime soon. Delicious.

The interview supposedly airs this Sunday night and will be listenable outside of Sweden on their website, though what with the 4 hours of daytime and everything who can say what that even means? Here's what they say it's going to be like if you catch it:

De första tsunamispillrorna från Japan har spolats i land på Nordamerikas västkust. Det är allt från båtar och bilar till schampooflaskor och gympaskor. Det handlar om 25 miljoner ton bråte ute till havs. En del av allt det skräp som inte når land fastnar i den trögflytande ö av plast, skit, sörja och sopor från hela världen som stilla havet redan härbärgerar:  The garbage patch   - och är lika stort som hela Kalifornien! Vi ringer Thomas Morton, en gänglig hispterskribent i New York som faktiskt badat i den här sörjan! Och man undrar ju, hur farligt är det här? Kommer vi alla dränkas i ett radioaktiv sumpmarkshav?

Which translates to:

The first tsunami debris from Japan have been washed ashore on North America's west coast. There is everything from boats and cars to shampoo, waterbottle and sneakers. It's about 25 million tonnes of rubbish at sea. A portion of all that junk that does not reach the country stuck in theslow floating island of plastic crap, slop and garbage from all over the world that the Pacific is already harboring: The garbage patch - and is as big asthe state of California! We call Thomas Morton, a lanky hispterskribent in New York actually had a bath in this mess! And you wonder just how dangerous is it? Will we all drown in a radioactive sumpmarkshav?

I think that's the question on ALL our minds.
