Joan Crawford Can Really Belt It Out

The inspiration for this post sprung from two things: 1) I recently purchased, and watched, Mommie Dearest on DVD. This wasn't just any 'ol DVD though, it was the "Hollywood Royalty/Special Collector's Edition" that features a commentary track by John Waters that is almost (I want to say that it actually is) better than the film itself. 2) I think I may want to be Joan Crawford for Halloween, which has led me to do extensive research on her online, in order to pin down the perfect pantsuit/shoulder pad combo that I'll need to replicate for my costume. In doing this, I came across all of these clips of her singing songs. Here are a few of my favorites:

This is so dreamy it makes me want to kill myself. You can also completely see the sheer craziness in her eyes.

As I'm watching this, I can't help but think that Joan Crawford would have made an amazing lesbian.

Do you think that maybe she did this dancing scene over and over and over and over, until her shoes filled with blood, which she took home and made her kids scrub out? Me too.

There's so much going on here. She's like, stabbing that guy with flowers while wanting to bite his face. Also, that old woman is totally thinking "go fuck yourself."
