I'm gonna start by saying that the line-up for this year's
Maryland Deathfest is INSANE. Totally off the fucking meat-hooks. Have you seen it?
Repulsion,
Autopsy,
Sodom,
Possessed, past AFITFOG featured acts
Sadistic Intent,
Obliteration and
Black Breath, to name a few. It is literally going to be the metal-fest of the decade, millennium, etc.
Anyways, so
Nirvana 2002 will be playing there. It's their second ever live show, their first being at the launch of the
Swedish Death Metal book by Daniel Ekeroth, in 2007. They only ever released a handful of demos, the majority(/all?) of which were recorded at Stockholm's infamous
Sunlight Studios, where literally every Swedish death metal band recorded (think Entombed, Morbid, Carbonized... hell, even
Soulside Journey was recorded there). So you know the sound: thick, down-tuned, brutal, unforgiving riffage. A compilation came out just last year, comprising all their recordings from 89-91 (imaginatively titled
Recordings 89-91). It is so good you should get off your seat NOW and find it. Mug someone for the cash if you have to, I don't care. Or maybe save your cash and make the treacherous journey to Maryland in May. The choice is yours, heathens.
