Vice: When were you last saddest?

Last Christmas. I was alone.

Um, OK. So when were you last happiest?

Two years ago I was happy.

Why?

Because I was on holiday in Brazil.

Vice: When were you last happiest?

Anita Blay:

I think it was on Christmas Eve, because I received some very good news.

What was it?

None of your business, really.

Oh. When were you last saddest then?

I was sad about some music bullshit—music politics. I’m trying to think about the last time I was sad for someone else. I’m really self-centered.

Vice: When do you last remember being happiest?

Charles Adefeye:

When I got my exam results. That was in September last year.

What did you study?

I did a degree in biochemistry.

Wow. When were you saddest?

That would be two years ago, when my brother went inside for drugs.

Vice: What was the last thing that made you really joyous?

Holly Elizabeth:

When I finally got my iPod to work, it was making me so angry.

They can be tricky. And when were you last saddest?

I spilt curry all down my jumper. I was really upset, it was ruined.

That sounds really tragic.

Vice: When were you last happiest and why?

Barry Flint:

A long time ago.

Why?

I’ve had two years of depression.

When did you reach the pits?

Three or four months ago.

What happened?

I lost my job. I had financial troubles, domestic troubles. I’ve turned it around though, job-wise, like.

Vice: When were you last happiest?

Karriece Worrell:

Yesterday, because my American lady told me she was back in the country, and it was her birthday.

When were you last sad?

This morning when my best friend told me her grandfather died. It’s really sad, he was a nice guy.

Vice: Tell me when you were last overflowing with joy?

I was very happy on Christmas Day because I was with my family, watching

I was sad on Tuesday morning because I’d been up in Newcastle with my girlfriend for two days, then I had to leave.

When my daddy came home from work.

When were you last really sad?

When Hope died.

My cat.

Ruby Evans:

When I was in California last year with all my friends. Just because everyone was together in the sunshine.

Probably when I found out that my nan was terminally ill. That was pretty sad.

Vice: When were you last happiest?

Jessica Irondi:

This morning! I was reunited with all my besties after a long while. I’ve been in London for a bit and these girlies came from the US to see me, so that was, like, really awesome.

Okay, and when were you last miserable?

When I lost my best friend in Prague for a day and a half. That was scary, she doesn’t speak Czech. It’s a miracle we found each other.

Vice: When were you last happiest and why?

Sam Fullman:

Last week, maybe on Tuesday. I met my girlfriend after work and had a very nice evening.

What did you do?

I don’t really think you want to know that.

When the bank told me they wanted all my money back.

I was last happiest on Christmas Day because my parents bought me a Canon 450D camera.

And saddest?

Last year, because my boyfriend moved away. I was completely alone and I didn’t have a job.
