Super Skate Summer in Portland
Hey Portland, did you know that Super Skate Summer 2011 kicks off tonight at the Hollywood Theatre? It does, and if you are at all interested in riding a skateboard and/or watching other people ride their skateboards, this is going to be a good weekend for you.
Here's the skinny:
Tonight there will be three screenings. First up is Fucktards presented by Tobin Yelland, Julian Stranger, and Andy Roy. Then Buddy Nichols, Rick Charnoski, and Pat Quirk will show selections from Fruit of the Vine, and for the nightcap, Thomas Campbell will present A Love Supreme.
Then, on Saturday night, Greg Hunt, Jason Dill, and Anthony Van Engelen will discuss the making of Mind Field, followed by Jon Miner and Jerry Hsu's discussion on the making of Stay Gold. After that, people like NECK FACE, Chris Johanson, and Thomas Campbell, among others, will present their favorite video parts of ever.
FINALLY, No Age will play tunes set to the lost Dogtown era tapes on Sunday to finish the weekend.
This whole shebang is curated by Chris Johanson and Patrick O'Dell, so if you see those guys wandering around why not give them a pat on the back and buy them a beer? They'd really appreciate that.
Tickets are $7 per night and you can buy them right here.
