Guantánamo Guards Suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress
Prison guards at Guantánamo Bay have endured high rates of post-traumatic stress and severe depression, according to a 2010–11 Army Institute of Public Health study obtained by VICE News. Of the 1,422 troops surveyed, 565 developed behavioral health conditions and showed signs of post-traumatic stress.—VICE News

Trump Says African Americans 'Living in Hell'
Donald Trump again resorted to crude stereotypes at his latest rally as he tried reach out to black voters Tuesday. "African Americans are living in hell in the inner cities…You walk to the store for a loaf of bread you get shot," he told a crowd in Sanford, Florida, the city where unarmed teen Trayvon Martin was shot dead by a neighborhood watchman in 2012.—ABC News

Phoenix Sheriff Charged in Racial Profiling Case
Controversial sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona was formally charged Tuesday with criminal contempt-of-court after he violated a judge's order in a racial-profiling case. Arpaio's officers were found to have violated the rights of Latino citizens on immigration patrols in the area and the sheriff, a Donald Trump supporter who has pleaded not guilty to contempt of court, could do six months in jail if found guilty.—AP

Apple Somehow Beats Expectations Despite Revenue Decline
Apple has reported its third quarter in a row of a drop in revenue, but managed to exceed analyst expectations anyway in part by selling 45.5 million iPhones, beating estimates of 44.8 million. Still, this amounts to Apple's first annual revenue decline in 15 years.—The Wall Street Journal/Forbes

Thirty Dead in Mass ISIS Execution in Afghanistan
Thirty people were kidnapped and summarily killed by ISIS fighters in Afghanistan's Ghor Province Wednesday, officials said. A spokesman for the provincial government said the civilians were shot dead in revenge for the death of an ISIS commander.—Reuters

Gambia Quits the International Criminal Court
Gambia has withdrawn from with the International Criminal Court in the Hague, accusing the global tribunal of "humiliation of people of color, especially Africans." It follows similar announcements by South Africa and Burundi earlier this month. Gambia's information minister argued "not a single Western war criminal has been indicted.—Al Jazeera

Canadian Nurse Charged with Eight Murders
A nursing home worker in Ontario, Canada, has been accused of eight counts of first-degree murder. The victims, five women and three men between the ages of 75 and 96 years old, were residents at two care facilities where 49-year-old Elizabeth Tracey Mae Wettlaufer, the accused, worked.—BBC News
