  • 'Police Chief Should Go' Say Chicago Protestors
    Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel is facing calls to remove his police chief, after authorities failed to release a video of an officer shooting dead Laquan McDonald for 13 months. Protesters gathered to taunt police for a second night, chanting "Justice for Laquan". —The Washington Post
  • Feds: Texas Can't Block Refugees
    The federal government has told resettlement agencies in Texas it's not within their authority to refuse Syrians into the state. But Texan authorities said they will follow the directive of Gov. Greg Abbott, who calls for the state to refuse to resettle Syrian Refuges. —Houston Chronicle

  • Florida University Underreported Rape
    Unsealed court papers have revealed Florida State University underreported the number of students who claimed to be sexually assaulted. The school reported only nine cases to the federal government, but depositions show 113 students made claims. —The New York Times

  • Suspensions Made After Hospital Bombing
    A US military probe has concluded that a series of human errors led to an American gunship bombing a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Afghanistan, killing 30. Several personnel, most likely pilots and operations crew who misidentified the target, have been suspended. —Reuters

    Tens of thousands of Kenyans, braving the pouring rain, are attending open-air Mass with Pope Francis at Nairobi's university campus. He said Christian and Muslim leaders have to come together to ward off "barbarous" terrorism. —AP

  • German Minister Suggests Cap on Migrants
    Europe should set an annual limit on the total number of refugees it takes in, said German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere. It comes after Chancellor Angela Merkel, a fellow conservative, pledged to stick to the open-door refugee principal. —Reuters
  • Fifteen Dead in Honduras Massacres
    Seven people were dragged from their homes and shot in Tegucigalpa, while eight bus drivers were shot dead in the city of San Pedro Sula. Police have blamed local gangs battling for territory. —AFP
