TODAY ONLY: ROBERT POLLARD'S COLLAGE SHOW
NYC residents have until exactly 11 PM tonight to catch Robert Pollard's "The Public Hi-Fi Balloon," a showcase of his collage work. Contrary to most artwork made by people who are primarily musicians, this stuff is great. Besides the larger collages, there are covers for fake 7"s, fake zines, a fake record store, and even an authentic "asshole record store clerk" he pulled out of a gutter somewhere.
The show is located at the makeshift 45 Space at 45 Bond St. (between Lafayette and Bowery), right next to a bar/restaurant called Mercat. It's easy to miss, so just head into the open door next to the bar to the elevator. And we suggest getting their early because the space isn't large and there is lots to see. No idea if Pollard will be roaming the floor with Miller Lite in hand today, but he was around last night and said he had been working "like a spider on acid" for the past six months to finish the work for the show.
It runs from 2-11 PM today, and that's it. So be a good little Hut Freak and show Uncle Bobby some support. A taste of what to expect is below.
