VICE Premiere: "Summer Bummer" by The Band in Heaven
The band took their video off the internet for some reason, but we're keeping the post up because we like it. Enjoy!
The Band in Heaven releases music on Hozac Records and we like them. This video is for the song "Summer Bummer" and they sent along a funny little story to go with it:
"We filmed the video mostly in Kyle's (the director) parents' outdoor garage. That same day, by chance, Kyle's mother, who is a very active and vocal presence in the Christian community in Palm Beach County, had let a large film crew film some scene for a (Christian) film they were working on in the main house. Victoria Jackson was there, I was told I should stay hidden from her since I was Turkish and she's apparently very racist. Kyle told us to hide all the occult paraphernalia as best we could because if they found out what the video was about things would definitely get awkward and uncomfortable. There were many times people came into the garage to see what we were doing, and they were definitely disturbed at the imagery we had decided to use. The second day of shooting we were told that we couldn't start on time because the shot list / continuity notebook was missing. Apparently Kyle's mother had "accidentally" taken it. We had to have a friend go pick it up, while she was somberly flipping through the pages."
