Watch Modest Mouse's New Video Starring Natasha Lyonne from 'Orange Is the New Black'

The song sounds like someone trying to write a Modest Mouse song.

Modest Mouse released their first album in almost a decade this week, Strangers to Ourselves, and it did not particularly blow anyone away. After years of rumors about everyone from Big Boi to Krist Novoselic guest starring on the record, it looked like Isaac Brock and company were going to deliver something insane and over-stuffed. An album produced by Big Boi and featuring a member of Nirvana has the potential to be really, heinously awful, but at least it would've been ballsy.

Instead, they churned out a safe record of late-period Modest Mouse doing late-period Modest Mouse.Strangers to Ourselves doesn't take a lot of risks. Their single "Lampshades on Fire" sounds like someone trying to write a Modest Mouse song. It has every trope the band's known for, from the "ba-ba-ba" vocal hook to Isaac's harmonic bends on the guitar.

The "Lampshades on Fire" music video dropped today. It stars Natasha Lyonne from Orange Is the New Black in the midst of a bizarre house party. The scene seems like something out of the song "Things I Don't Remember" from Isaac's side project Ugly Casanova. Watch it above.
