British pop sensation Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine likes to perform every song as if were her last, placing herself "on the edge of complete oblivion." We trekked over to Abbey Road Studio where she was recording her bands' sophomore album and listened to Florence and her producer Paul Epworth discuss how playing with little tricks like recordings of crows, 8-bit 80s synths and delay pedals can "turn everything on its head," and even how the sound of a zombie getting his face smashed in can make a great kick drum. We followed Florence to her original studio in South London with her keyboardist Isa Summers, watched her perform at our 2011 New York event and got some insight as to why all her lyrics have gothic yet transcendent undertones.
