Phoenix is a group of four sharp dressed, smooth-tongued Frenchmen who have come to resurrect modern pop-rock from the throes of boredom. They started out as a garage band in the suburbs of Paris and they later went on to back their friends and fellow countrymen in the band AIR. They released the debut album “United” in 2000, and what followed has been a decade of cacophonous word-of-mouth fandom. Their progressive, synth-pop symphonies showed up in films like Sofia Coppola’s “Lost in Translation” and, as of this year, on a Best Alternative Grammy award for the album “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix”. Inspired by fluorescent artist Dan Flavin, their current touring show is all about changing the blood chemistry of the audience through pure, pulsating light.
