May Liu, the indomitable owner of M Shanghai Bistro & Garden in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, has been hosting a Chinese New Year's Eve party for 13 years now. The party – which we visited for the first time last year – can be best described as a no-holds-barred approach to a Chinese banquet. Madame Liu takes no shortcuts in providing her guests and employees with anything they could possibly want to eat or drink for the night.

Do you want a shot of Jameson? How about seven? Would you like lobster or duck? No worries. There are at least 20 of each being served alongside a roast pig, soy-sauce roast chicken, whole steamed fish with ginger and scallion, sautéed water spinach and a seaweed and mushroom salad, all of which should be taken as an opulent way to welcome as much health and prosperity in the new year as celestially possible.

Besides the food and drink, the energy of the party is almost indescribable. The party itself has a "I just got home from prison and went straight to Mardi Gras" – type vibe as guests inhale food and booze to all favorite party anthems. This video is our best attempt at capturing all of this. Kung Hei Fat Choy!
