Samanta shares her soundtracks for life

Hailing from Lithuania's capital Vilnius, 23 year old DJ Samanta is the queen of minimalistic techno. Her DJing journey began when she was just 17 years old, playing first at private parties, and soon after in clubs. Known for her powerful, tension-building sets, the hype around her is growing rapidly with each day. It's safe to say that she's one to watch in the electronic dance music scene.

Owing to her captivating stage presence and driving sets, the crowd can't help but go wild when Samanta takes to the decks. This summer, she was shortlisted as one of the finalists in the 2015 burn Residency competition, representing the Baltics region. After demonstrating some serious skills and immense passion during the bootcamp, Samanta was crowned the competition winner. A string of gigs throughout the summer in world renowned Ibiza clubs including Sankeys and Space followed, along with a 100,000 € investment into her flourishing DJ career.

With her selection of tracks for our 'Soundtracks for Life' series, Samanta shows us just how sophisticated her knowledge of top quality dance music is.

'Tropic' by one of my absolute favourite DJs 'KiNK' is a track I'd highly recommend listening to when getting up. Every time I hear it, I get the urge to put on a short dressing gown, make myself a strong coffee, look out of the window and dance slowly. Sounds a bit sexed up, but listen to the track and you'll see what I mean…

So, you've probably already noticed that I'm a crazy about KiNK's tracks. 'Express' is instantly recognisable for its loud train-like sounds, which make you feel as though you have to hurry up and jump on board or you'll be late (since trains NEVER wait!) The drive really is mind blowing. It's one of the tracks I play most and I absolutely love it.

You cannot imagine how many times I play this track when I want to see people with their hands in the air, screaming with joy and euphoria. I think this track works so well because of its sharp and sexy sounds. It's definitely is one of the best tracks Danny Daze ever made, especially for me! When I play this tune, I always dance along with the crowd, and every time I see how crazy it makes the crowd go, I can't stop smiling.

This track always wakes me up and motivates me when I want to exercise. It's characterised by its aggressive sounds which produce so much energy - the kind of energy that I want to take over my whole body. Have a go at working out whilst listening to this track, I think you'll be surprised by the results!

I still remember the day when I listened to this song for the very the first time. I was 15 years old and at a friend's party when it came on. I'd never heard sound like that before and it had a huge impact on me. Of course, I asked the DJ for the track ID and as soon as I got home I downloaded all of Laidback Luke's tracks. It was that night that I realised that I wanted to be just like him, so I took my first step into the world of DJing and created a short mix.
