Another housemate label, this one was a solution to meeting girls. First off, they threw a party. Then they threw a bunch more all over the country, featuring OFWGKTA, Foals, The Drums, Yeasayer and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, to name a few. Each time the hangovers wear off, they work on getting people hooked on their roster of bands, sweet acts such as DZ Deathrays, Bleeding Knees Club, Snakadactal and Violent Soho.

RICE IS NICE

Photographer: Ryan Kenny

Founder Julia Wilson was seemingly born for this, because this Sydney indie can't put a foot wrong. Formed in 2008, Rice Is Nice's ethos is one of familial love, transparency and efficiency, and their goal is to give their musicians a decent chance of getting heard doing what they love. It couldn't have worked out better really, with the likes of Spod, Good Heavens, The Laurels, Straight Arrows, Richard In Your Mind and Donny Benet calling the label home.

Julia Wilson (Rice Is Nice) wears SL72 shoes, Woven Parka jacket; Owen Oenglis (Straight Arrows) wears Adi Firebird tracksuit; Donny Benet wears BeckenBauer tracksuit; Richard Cartwright (Richard In Your Mind) wears Cobrington SST jacket, M Stripe Tee 2 t-shirt, Mad Cab jeans; SPOD wears SST MAD1-40 Jacket
