This issue is so fucking good we decided it ought to have its own little song and dance. So we had composer Drew Swinburne make us a theme song. We knew Drew could write a song that would match our cover photos because he does the score for VBS.TV’s Cute Show and an experimental puppet show called Showbeast. And we were right! The song he gave us, “Party Parade, aka the Vice Volume 15 Number 9 Theme Song,” is a jaunty little tune incorporating the plinky sounds of toy piano with the clowny sounds of clowniness.

Antonio Vargas has been a professional dancer and choreographer for 12 years. He’s done everything from musical theater to music videos to soap operas. He also teaches dance and drama at a bilingual educational theater company and puts on musicals like Fame with little kids, which sounds like the cutest thing ever. His instructions from us were to capture the playful and diverse essence of this issue in dance, and the results were razzmatazztic! “The dance is a mix of different styles,” he says, “starting off with a little contemporary, then some Fosse, a bit of ballet, voguing, and finishing with some inspiration from A Chorus Line. Basically, I’m tugging at each one of the styles and then collapsing at the end.” Here's a video of the dance's debut, which Antonio performed for an enraptured audience in the Vice Art Gallery.
