OAKLAND - FRUIT SAND

Hyper-busy label

Neon Aztec

is hocking all sorts of amazing day-glo lo-fi at the moment, but

Fruit Sand

is their most complete output so far. Fruit Sand, aka Carter Mullin, plays his own type of bubble-burnt punk fuzz, mixing in weird blenderized bits of trash culture. Sometimes his condensed distortion and pedal trickery comes out as pure harsh ambiance, but usually he kicks it out as a punk in the style of

or fellow deformed riff followers

Fungi Girls

.

The label on the whole likes to mix serious bedroom fuzz and vaguely childish leanings toward malice, like that mean kid at school with the Oakland Raiders hoody who said his uncle had a tank. Mostly though, they're just massive nerds focusing on how to totally bury your melodies under pixelated rainbows and then burn it onto vinyl.
