FASHION ISSUE EXTRA - THE FUTURE ACTUALLY IS NOW, BUT IT'S THE PAST'S FUTURE AND IT IS CALLED CYBERPUNK

Today Sam McPheeters makes some predictions about what fashion will be like in the soon-coming future (isn't the future always coming soon? like right now, here it comes). Remember when people did that in the 90s? Yeah, that was called cyberpunk. And designer Ari Fish is paying it a visit…

As a young lass in the 90s I would lay awake at night pondering how with just my brain, my fingertips, my motherboard, and my phone line I was going to change the world. My cyberpunk obsession never really moved beyond the ass-sniffing stage of watching the movie Hackers on repeat. Come to think of it, my adolescence really never moved beyond listening to Marilyn Manson's Smells Like Children and Led Zepplin III (these were the only two albums I owned at the time and to this day I still believe these two albums to be the best albums ever made), while burning nag champa and reading Helter Skelter on my mother's all-white linen covered bed. Fast forward thirteen years, I am now ready to manifest my adolescent dream of becoming cyberpunk. Given only one hour to transform ourselves, J. Ashley Miller and I show you how you can use everyday household objects and electronics to become your own cyber manifestation.
