Our friend Diane Vadino is reading tonight in New York from her debut novel Smart Girls Like Me. Do you know how you always wanted to avenge yourself on that person who tore out your heart by making it into a novel? She saw it through. She did all the foundation work—sorry, guys—on McSweeney's, and then she was a staff writer at Spin before leaving to drive from Europe to Mongolia. One time she gave a reading and only a homeless man showed up, and she asked him if he wanted her to read, and he said yes, so she did. In short, she's one of the good ones. If you are anywhere near the Barnes and Noble at 6th Ave and 8th Street tonight around 7:30, you should go and hear her read. We will be there, too.
