We're all well aware of the NSA's rampant data-gathering and spying on American citizens. Now what? As the revelations keep rolling in, it's become ever clearer that just about all of our electronic communications can be accessed by an analyst somewhere. This new privacy fight promises to be a long one, but in the meantime, why not at least say hello?Motherboard's Hello, NSA project highlights the sheer broadness of government internet dragnets by looking at just how many innocuous words are flagged as important by the Department of Homeland security and, presumably, other government agencies. Our friends at reddit liked that concept so much that they asked us to partner for something totally awesome: an NSA-themed redditgifts exchange.Called "Now Sharing Absurdity - The NSA Gift Exchange," it's a new format for redditgifts, one that adds a little surveillance-themed twist. When you sign up, you'll pick your favorite 10 of 750 NSA keywords compiled by the redditgifts team. Those choices will get sent to your match, who will then have the rad task of figuring out a gift that fits. For example, if you pick "espionage," maybe you'll get some x-ray goggles. Pick "Panama," and maybe you'll get a hat. We've got no clue what something like "Pine Gap" would result in, but that's what makes it fun!Take a spin over to the redditgifts site to sign up for this exchange. Oh, and if any of you NSA analysts out there feel like joining in, try not to read your match's credit card history. That'll just spoil the surprise.
