We spent most of our time seeking out music focused events and after a while, decided to start throwing our own parties as Hushlamb. We wanted to build an environment around the kind of music that moved us. We put our efforts into putting together quality events; events that focused on sound, music, and the dance floor.

Some years have gone by, our crew is grown and is now made up of a diverse group of super talented artists and friends. Alicia is now a super dope producer and live act and I have spent a few years running the Sound in Motion festival. We are both in Montreal now and are starting to throw parties here and the timing just feels right.

The shared desire to build platforms for the music that moves us, and that is what Hushlamb was born out of. It is that same desire that has prompted our decision to launch a label, it's just one more way to offer up the music that moves us. It's something we both always knew we wanted to do but we had agreed to wait until it felt right. It feels right now

Explain the name.
Alicia Hush: Half Hush. Half Lamb. ALL HEART.

What's the scene like in Montreal at the moment?
S: The scene in Montreal right now is magic. It is filled with talented artists, producers and labels and there is a spirit of collaboration here that is incredibly exciting. There is a fresh and diverse mix of young and new, alongside the more seasoned, super reputable types. There is an exciting underground scene seeking out new and interesting spots to showcase music, and solid institutions such as the Mutek festival. There is an air of possibility, a feeling of family and whole lot of dancing and music going down. It's a super fertile ground for creativity and a very special place to be in right now.

Favorite label that isn't your own?
A: Perlon! Since the very beginning the releases have been quality, unique and super fresh! You can easily buy a Perlon record without having listened to it and know there will be something on it that you love.
