Killing It: The Finally Halloween is Over Edition

DJ Khaled ripped off CREEP, Lorde calls David Guetta gross, and RL Stine vs. RL Grime is a thing that happened. KILLING IT!

There's enough gossip going around the world of electronic music that it probably deserves its own TMZ, Gawker, and Perez Hilton. We keep track of the drama, the beef, the LOLs, the dramatic build-ups, and the tragic drops so you don't have to. Now, let's see who killed it this week.

MERCURY PRIZE GOES RETROGRADE

James Blake wins the Barclaycard Mercury Prize, is accidentally announced as James Blunt, then asked by BBC about his "ambient chillax" music. It really doesn't get any better than this guys.

THERE'S AN APP FOR THAT
Looks like someone is still mad about getting turned down at Berghain that one time—so mad that they designed an iPhone app that tells you what you "need" to get in. If you actually download this we cannot be cool with you—just putting that out there.

YOLO BEAR REVEALED
So amidst the lengthy, heated debate around Jersey club music, THUMP staff went to see Yolo Bear in Brooklyn and see what the big deal is all about. Brenmar brought Nadus, Uniique, DJ Tiga and the rest of the Brick Bandits crew out with him and they all did a massive back-to-back that will go down in history. Then Cashmere Cat put a scarf on his head and came out as Yolo Bear.

THIS WEEK IN DEADMAU5
Should we just change the name of this column? Everyone is so sick of this dude's drama that even God himself, the T-man weighed in. This went back and forth for a while but as usual we picked out our highlight quote, and we totally agree.

"DAVID GUETTA IS GROSS"
Now people can also describe Lorde as "smart" and "cool" instead of just saying "young" over and over again. Apparently David Guetta was interested in working with this talented songstress and her response was one we have all been waiting for… "No. Fuck no. He's so gross." Guys I think we are in love with a 16-year-old.

RL STINE INTRODUCES RL GRIME
He totally went there. RL Grime got the drop of all time from legendary Goosebumps author RL Stine… again. This year he even got the illustrator to do the art for his mixtape. How's that for a cool story about one of those DJ names that sounds like another celebrity name? STOP doing that by the way.

DJ KHALED NOT REALLY DA BEST

DJ Khaled may be sufffering from success but we weren't born yesterday. This week Lauren Flax, one half of spooky synth duo CREEP, posted on her Facebook page that Khaled's new song "Murcielago" was basically a rip off of their single "Days." We posted both below so you be the judge. We are sad because we always thought he was da best.
