Ice Angel Gives You Virtual LED Wings

No matter who you are or what you’ve done, Cinimod Studio’s latest artwork turns you into a angel.

No matter what kind of nefarious activities you get up to, Ice Angel, the latest artwork by London light-architects Cinimod Studio, allows you to see yourself in angelic form. If you ever created snow angels as a kid, then you’ll get the idea of this interactive artwork which takes its inspiration from that childhood game, giving it a digital spin.

Viewers become active participants in this portrait performance piece—move your arms and an LED wingspan appears tracing your movements. The artwork even does you the favor of remembering your angel identity, should you have any future encounters with it.

From Cinimod Studio’s website:

The merging of the mythology of angels and the natural phenomenon of light travelling to earth creates an intriguing intersection. An angel's form is inherently human, yet an angel always originates from elsewhere. In modern terms, light is our messenger, as telescopes use light to capture new aspects of the universe. It is with this symmetry that Ice Angel exists, but the artwork itself is defined by the interaction it creates.

It’s probably as close to an angel on earth as you’re going to get.
