This week on a new episode of THE TRIXIE & KATYA SHOW, our gals are discussing religion, spirituality, and the reasoning behind it all. All organized religions, no matter how varying in externalities they may be, boil down to the same, basic moral code: don’t be a shitty person. Moreover, all religions provide, as Katya says, “a lens through which you can view the events of your life”—because everybody’s gotta believe in something, right?Growing up Catholic has given Katya many strong opinions on religion and religious practices—including the qualities of organized belief systems that generate appeal. Is it possible, then, that religion can have sex appeal, too? Apparently, yes, but it’s gotta be done right.“The whole domineering priest-nun-punishment fantasy is kind of an old hat,” she says. “I like the calm, cool, compassionate, no underwear, orange robe-wearing Buddhist on the beach with no shoes.” For Trixie, it’s “the vestments, the hats, and the bald men” that make religion so sexy. Who knew?In this scene from tonight’s episode, Trixie and Katya are playing a fashionably religious (or religiously fashionable) little game of “Hot or Holy,” judging the plain old spiritual against the spiritually chic. During this activity, they review the garb of several different religious fits and decide whether or not said get-up is “hot” or “just holy.”From comparing a Greek Orthodox priest to a Chanel resort wear model to finding the charm in a little Mennonite ankle-reveal, Trixie and Katya have an interesting array of opinions when it comes to religious garments.
